Join us on Wed, May 29th in beautiful Burnaby, BC as we celebrate some of the best minds in Canada. Our esteemed judging panel, soon to be announced, will hear from the top 2019 SU Canada GIC finalists.

 The judges will choose Canada's next Exponential Leader to represent our country at SingularityU’s (SU) prestigious Global Solutions Program (GSP) in the fall.The winner is guaranteed reserved admittance to the 12-month program with it's primary location at SU HQ at NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley.

About The Gloal Solutions Program

The 2019 SU Canada GIC is an opportunity to showcase Canadian innovations on a national stage.

Winners will propel their organization forward with a $40,000 CDN scholarship to SingularityU. They will take a journey into the future with the newest leadership models and latest innovation tools to succeed in an exponential world. As start-ups and scale-ups representing Canada, this is an opportunity for them to plot their organization's course for the future that will translate far-future thinking into perspectives and actionable insights for today.

The contestants are getting ready for SingularityU’s 2019 Canada Global Impact Challenge (GIC) Live Pitch Event which will be held on May 29th. Finalists, selected from applicants from across Canada, will pitch their BIG idea to improve the lives of 1 million+ Canadians and beyond using exponential technologies.  Come out to cheer them on! Meet the Keynote

Anne Connelly is passionate about harnessing blockchain and decentralized technology to transform the lives of people in developing countries. Anne is Faculty at Singularity University in Silicon Valley & SingularityU Canada, teaching global leaders how exponential technologies can solve problems that impact over a billion people. She has been an active part of the global blockchain community since 2012, and is currently working with notable companies including Uulala, Bunz, DLTvc and Doyenne Capital. She previously worked with Doctors Without Borders Canada in Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and currently serves on their board of directors. Anne has a Bachelor of Life Sciences from Queen’s University, an MBA from McMaster University, and a Fintech Certificate from MIT. She was honoured as one of CBC’s 12 Young Leaders Changing Canada and one of the Fifty Most Inspirational Women in Technology in Canada.  

Meet the EMCEE

Andrea Palmer is the Founder and CEO of Awake Labs, a digital health company working to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live healthier and more independently. Awake Labs works in the areas of care coordination, mental health, and human-centred care. Andrea is passionate about addressing the gaps in mental health care for vulnerable and underserved populations.

Andrea has a background in engineering and business from UBC, where she was an active member of entrepreneurship@UBC and the MedTech Development Hub. In 2015, she completed the Global Solutions Program at Singularity University where she focused on leveraging AI to democratize healthcare globally.

She is a proud alumna of NEXT Canada’s Next36 program, where Awake Labs was named the Outstanding Venture of the year and Andrea received the Satchu Prize (2015). Andrea also completed the Creative Destruction Lab’s AI stream in 2018. Andrea has received Startup Canada's Young Entrepreneur Award for BC & The North and represented Canada in Israel through the Start Tel Aviv competition.

Andrea is on the Board of Life Sciences Ontario and she serves as a member of the Canadian Federal Economic Strategy Table for Health and Biosciences.
